Additional Column details. Windows Explorer has XY beat.

Simply put, XY cannot display additional file details.
XY's list of options:
-vs-
Explorer (Windows 7)'s list of available column details:
That's my wish, the ability to view more details in the detail view. I was dealing with a list of files and had to resort to using Explorer because I couldn't get the details I needed out of XY.

I don't know exactly what it is that you had to do, but I have a feeling that you could have got details using XY's
property scripting command and...
Code: Select all
v8.60.0106 - 2009-11-16 21:07
+++ Find Files: Now you can directly search for the extended
properties of file items, as also known from the File Info Tips.
Their names and indices vary strongly between different Windows
versions. A list is available in Configuration | File Info Tips.
The syntax is like above with "tag:" or "comment:", only with yet
another field for the actual property. To identify properties by
their index prefix "#" to the number.
Examples:
- prop:fileversion:8.60 //find all items with version *8.60*
- prop:fileversion:"8.60" // with version 8.60
- prop:#8:Donald // with owner *Donald*
- prop:#26:"1024 x 768" // with dimensions "1024 x 768"
NOTE: While this new feature adds enormous power to XY's file
search, it is not extremely fast because retrieving extended
properties via the shell is rather slow.

It was more a method of sorting and pruning that needed to be done. Figuring out which was what, and based on the information plucking out certain files. Possibly scripted but required a bit too much human interaction to make it pleasant. Putting certain fields at the top just made it downright easy and XY couldn't access the fields I needed.
Good to hear. You're usually a step ahead or at least have a foot in the door. Any chance that XY will be able to use existing Windows shell extensions such as
AudioShell or
Vorbis Extension since most shell extensions are x86 code? I realize XY's implementation will definitely be different, but it's a hope ;-).
Thanks again.

If they show columns in Explorer they will do so in XY as well.
