Is it possible to delete all the folders in a list but not delete the contents of those folders?

What would you expect to happen to contents of those folders? :?

I ended up doing this with a find, moving the find results and then deleting the empty folders.

x2 does this. It is called flattening. Where all the contents are put into one directory. It does it though on a virtual basis in a separate window. It actually doesn't move any files.

Very handy for seeing all the files in one dir. From there you can copy/move file elsewhere.

I don't use it a lot - but it does have its uses.

Hit Ctrl+F3 in XY and it also flattens folder contents virtually. But anything other than virtual can be done I guess with some scripting.

I just purchased XY. I am a longtime user of x2. I am being constantly amazed at the flexibility of XY. I keep reading the forums and help file and keep finding new things.

The only things I need now are XYcopy and pane/folder compare.

Thanks much and a belated welcome to the XY forums from me also!

I also used x2 lite before I found XY....and yes, Xy does have a lot of flexability, even such that I've given up learning it all (sorry Don! ) ...and given how fast XY changes, there is always something new to find! LOL!

Well, pane/folder compare is down the line on the "roadmap" so for now, you can use the script from the other thread http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4326...or on those very rare occasions, I still resort to using x2 myself for that feature only.
