Default action for catalog entries

Currently on clicking catalog entries opens the directory.
I think it would be better to allow different default operations for files. By clicking files in the catalog they should be launched. I know it could be changed manually but it's annoying for doing each entry.

Could you explain this a bit better, as the XLS files that I have in my Catalog open directly in Excel when I click on them? They are defined as "Open Item" in the 'Action on click'...is that not what you have? Or are you talking about something different, like being able to select which app to use to open the file with each time, so you could choose NotePad or Wordpad, for ex?

Hi and Welcome!
There are more options if you right-click on the relevant catalog item.

Ok...It's been a while since I added anything to my catalog so did a couple of experiments...and now I think I see what requestors are speaking of...when I select desired file item in list, and then do a "Insert as new item", the default action is still "Go To" when it would seem better to default to "Open" as action when adding to the catalog a file vs a folder, while "Go To" makes more sense for folders.

This is presuming that item to be added is a single file and not a set of files as then desired action could be more complicated...
