A few dual panel wishes

I am starting to really use dual panel and i must say that i love it.
Now there are a few things i really would like to see in the dual panel to get things more fluent

1 - i use my mouse 4 and 5 buttons to go backward and forward in the tab history. Now i have to reflex when i want to go backward on one of the panels to just put the mouse on it and press 4. But that doesnt becuase the panel is not the one active. So what i would love to see is an auto-activate the hover panel on any mouse press. That way i only need to press 4 to go back in the unactive panel.

2 - Right now i am using the dual panel feature to merge directories. To do so i use winmerge to merge files. One very annoying thing is that i have to launch winmerge with one of the file(one panel), then go back to XY, and drag the other file to winmerge. So one thing that would be just AMAZING, but maybe just not doable, would be to be able to select files from both panels ...

3 - continuing on my merging things, a useful feature would be to "lock" navigation, that way when i go back one dir or use history, both panels move at the same time.

What do you think?

Concerning your point 2 with WinMerge, I may have something of interest for you.

I made a UDC which allow me to compare the current item with the one I previously copied.

Create an "Open With" UDC one with the following application :
"PATH_TO_WINMERGE\WinMerge.exe" "<clipboard>" "<item1>"
I assign the keybord shortcut "C" to this command

To use that command, you select your first item, press Ctrl+C, then select the second one and press C to launch WinMerge comparing the two items.

Try it for yourself, I find it quite convenient.

Well, you can always assign a different keyboard shortcut to menu "Edit | Copy" then.

Thanks for your ideas. I'm currently collecting ideas for DP 2.0. In the meantime I do some other very nice things (you'll see tomorrow... ). DP 2.0 will happen when the time is ripe.

I'd like to add to the DP wishlist:
  • Select same files in other pane
  • Select unique files in selected pane
  • Swap panes from (1) to (2)
  • Drag and drop tabs from one pane to the other
Thank you! (Dual pane is already, of course, a great enhancement! But I think these features would make it even better. :D )
