Does anybody use this? It's from the last millenium and looks horrible...

YES! I do!
I use it to help me spot my Fav's in the tree as sometimes I find it quicker to just click on them there rather than going thru menu.

And the folders I have marked this way are not the same ones that I have in my Catalog, as I use them for different types of items.

Looks just fine to me!

I use it also, because I use bold fonts (Microsoft sans serif) for lists. So my fav folders are not different, tehrefore I use Mark Favorites Icon.

Hmm, I never thought of that. Good point. So I guess this case is closed.
