As a new user, I experimented by configuring XY to allow multiple instances. With instances "A" and "B" open together, I edited the Catalog in instance "A". This gives me two different versions of the Catalog. What will happen if I close "A" and then "B"? When I next open an instance of XY, which version of the Catalog will I see?
Can someone explain how XY operates with its datafiles? Does each instance create its own datafile, or is there a common datafile?
It seems to me that until I understand how this works I might be producing some unexpected results, so I've gone back to the one-instance-only configuration.

Re: Multiple instances and the Catalog
They are all stored in the application data path, and all configurations working with that folder as <appdata> will therefore share the same catalog, etc Meaning that if you have two instances using the same catalog.dat file, the last one to save its catalog to it (for example when closing if you have "save on exit") will set what will be used next time.davmay wrote:Can someone explain how XY operates with its datafiles? To use different catalogs you would have to use different application data path for each of them, you can probably find more about it here : http://88.191.26.34/XYwiki/index.php/Ap ... _Data_Path
