UDC, Use Separators

Having recently added a plethora of UDC's would like to organize them in a better fashion. However, have not had any success with Use Separators to Organize Commands.

Would someone kindly augment what the Wiki has to say with respect to actual technique and concrete examples.

Copious thanks ...

Example:

1) menu User>Manage commands
2) Choose Category "Goto"
3) Lets say you have 4 entries here, C:\Windows, C:\Program Files, D:\Music, D:\Videos.
4) Now you want to separate C: from D:, so you need a separator between C:\Program Files, D:\Music.
5) Click on entry D:\Music and click new on the right.
6) You will get an entry called New which also shows up in the below field "location", rename this to "-" (without quotes).

You should see the separator now in menu User>Goto

Your "how to" has unveiled the mystery.

Note to Don: A new button Add Separator Here would be a useful feature!

Mystery?? No!! Read the Wiki entry about UDC and under Create UDC you will find what I mentioned.

I think (at least for now) instead of trying to squeeze another button into the dialog, a context menu on New would suffice.

In fact it could have items for separators, hidden items, and provide a mousey way to duplicate items.

EDIT: It might also help if this was mentioned in the Tips dialog.

I agree, that would be a good solution.

Reading and comprehending are not always synonymous.

The Context Menu approach is excellent and then everybody would be satisfied.

 sorry, I missed the part you said about wiki. Could you be more explicit about wiki? which part was hard to comprehend? This would help users organize wiki in a better way.
I personally have very little time to change something there, but users if possible should contribute to wiki or atleast leave a feedback to make it better.

I'm not sure. I would hardly expect a context menu on buttons (although there are some in XY). I rather added some info to the "New" button's tooltip, and this:

Code: Select all

+ UDC dialog: Now, you can easily insert a menu separator by
      pressing Alt+Ins.
UPDATE: Okay, added a menu directly to the New button. It's good.
