A while ago jsc572 posted a query about the fact that the hand overlay on the icons for shared drives would not go away when "show icon overlays" was unchecked.

I have the opposite problem! I have enabled "show icon overlays", but the hand overlay does not appear on the icons for shared drives! Despite the fact that it does appear in My Computer.

I've tried refreshing the icon cache, restarting XYP, etc., but no hand.

Any suggestions??

Indeed strange! Never has anybody reported this. Do you have any suspicion what could be special about your system?

I don't know of anything in my system that would cause this. It's Win XP Pro, SP3. I've never had any problem with other system icons, and the hand overlay has always appeared whenever I've shared a drive.

Do you have the "hand" instead of MyComputer or overlayed over the MyComputer icon?

It might be a corrupted system image list. Did you try a reboot?

Okay. It looks like the icon cannot be retrieved on your system. No idea why. In the next version you will not see the "hand" anymore (this is icon #0 (!) in Windows... weird decision of the makers... probably goes back to Win3.1...), but no icon at all. A little improvement...

You mean the next version of XYP will have no icon at all for drives in 'My Computer'?

Yep, but only on your computer.

I wish I had your problem, mine just won't go away no matter what I do. everything appears good in explorer, I guess my version of xyp loves the hand overlay

Hmm. Actually it's a lot of work to get the hand overlay going. I would be easy for me to turn it off. I just wonder why only you have a problem here.

I sure wouldn't miss the hand overlay if you decide to turn it off any chance of that?
