In X2 there are scrap folders > select multi folders and browse their content in a dedicated single temporary folder.
XY is new to me, where and how can I find this feature? Could not find it browsing the menus

I think what you mean is/will be called "Drop Stacks" in XY, but it's not implemented yet. Will be in the future though, and act as "virtual folders" like you describe, where you can add all the items you want from anywhere, files and folders!

Can you confirm that "drop stacks" will allow to browse the content of selected folders in one location "i.e. the virtual folder" without the files' folders.
Not implemented yet = what time range?

1. Don't know yet. You probably think of the x2 feature you mentioned. My current vision of it is a little different but it's too early to speak about it.
2. Can't say, but I'm very interested in that feature myself (= good chance that it comes as quick as possible

).

Well there are 2 features:
First (a very handy feature) is "Browse Flat (Xplorer2) or Flatten Folder (Ultra Explorer)": that's a basic feature to browse the content of one or many folder(s), including the documents in its sub-folders (without the sub-folders). You can see at glance the full content of a folder no matter the number of sub-folders and sort them the way you like or preview them.
Second is scrap or virtual folder: there you can drop folders and views content located in different places (volumes or folders) in one single location. You can save them and create as many as you like. As you can of course define view and sort order. Select to see the sub-folders or the documents only, etc.
Is there something similar to the first feature in XY? I couldn't find it.

@Don
I am waiting to read you about the features above
Regarding the "Flat Folder" I should get the same result doing a search of folders with the "all file extensions" criteria.
Let's say I want to see all the files in "A" folder and "B" folder. Both "A & B" hold several sub-folders. What is the search criteria to show-up all the file in "A" + "B" including the files in their respective sub-folders in the search windows?
Name: *.*
Location: A,B
Now what if "A" is on the volume C: and "B" is on the volume D:

"Flat Folder" is currently available as "Show All Items in Branch Ctrl+F3", or am i mistaken?

Yes, kind of. But there's no indentation which I think some other file managers have in their "Flat View".

You can do all that with searches in XY. But admittedly it's not an easy drag+drop currently when you want to collect different folders for a multi-location search.

It might be an idea to add that to the context menu of Catalog Categories:
List items in all folders.

Flat folders usually show all the files in a folder without the subfolders. Ctrl + F3 shows all the files + the subfolders. Super

! I still need to get by some menu definitions. Thanks to ogroeger!

Thanks Donald
What do I enter if I use (for any reason) the "search window (Ctrl + F)":
Name:
*.*
Location:
C:\A;D:\B
Is this correct?

Not there yet in the XY documentation. If you tell me how, I will give it a try

Yes, try it.
