I should have added in the change log: You will not see a difference when you browse by tree. But any other way to browse (Favs, Catalog, Tabs, Address Bar, etc) will keep the Tree minimal.

Tip: To show all subfolders of the current MiniTree folder when it's expanded, press Shift+F4 (Refresh Current Folder).

I've now tried the mini-tree and do see where it can really be nice!

However, there are times when I need to see the full tree, so I switch it off...fine...but then when I turn M-T back on, I'm back to square one in that only my current folder is shown...so..wondering how best to have a M-T that consists of the status that it was since I left that mode (plus possibly any folders used in the interim)?

Yes, I see you point, although I hesitate a bit to complicate the straight concept that MiniTree is right now (because it will become less "mini"). What I could do is look into the history and pre-add the last 10 (or so) visited locations to the MiniTree. Works well technically.

I think that would be an adequate solution! Maybe could have the nbr of pre-added locations as a tweak so user could adjust to their desire, with some higher max limit, such as 20, but with default of 5 or 10?

Another related thingy came to mind: new scripting command LoadTree with an argument containing the branches you like to have as a |-separated list. That way you could one-click-load any tree you need. If that's not revolutionary then I don't know...

Hey, yes you're right about that! I could foresee that one could have a set of various "trees", such as music, photos, spreadsheets, etc.

The only issue that I can see is to how to easily build that list of folders...

Could the context menu on Catalog category be used to "load" a MiniTree with the valid folders within that?

There could/should be other methods as well, but this already lends itself to being a group/list of folders..

Oh yes, good idea! Just below "Open Folders in Tabs" could be "Open Folders in/as Mini Tree". And the reverse, "Insert As New Category Here > Current Tree".

Hey, here's maybe a good quick way to create/upd a snapshot!

May I suggest either (or both) of the following:
1) Modify the command to: LoadTree(PathList, [Append?]);
Append: 0 (Default), Replace current tree. 1, Add to current tree.

2) Add a new function: GetTree([Separator])
Separator: String to place between paths. If omitted, "|" is used.
Returns: A list of paths loaded in the current tree.


The main goal being a way to quickly add multiple paths to the tree without affecting the current set or having to visit them. Number 2 requires slightly more work from the scripter but also opens other doors.


Overall, I'm not sure if this is enough of a revolution to get me to un-hide the tree, but I really like what it's bringing to the table.

Makes sense to me!

Just tried out the "Make Mini Tree from folders"...and...it's GREAT!

I was able to take my existing "Fav Folders" category and make a tree from it which allows me a bit more flexability than using items from Cat itself.

Wondering...could that option be added to context menu of MiniTree TB icon? That is, to use the current Catalog category as basis? Would reduce the cursor travel distance needed as I tend to be up near the Tb much more often than near Catalog...

Another issue/item: When the "Insert new Category | Curr MT" is used, the resulting category name seems to be the lowest segment of the current path, which can result in odd names...shouldn't it end up showing the Properties of Category with a default "New Categ" as one would get if you did "Add new categ" so one can config it? Or at least with default of "Curr MiniTree" as name or similar...as I ended up with a Categ name of "11" which led me to say: huh?

I think it's better as it is now. Not perfect but better.
