Two Questions

I have tested XYplorer for some time now and I really like it.

Maybe someone is so kind to answer these two questions:

* In explorer it is possible to drag and drop (with right mouse button pressed) a zip file and then select "7zip - extract here".
In XYplorer I have to choose "Shell context menu - 7zip - extract here". That's no big deal but is there a way to get rid of this extra step?

* Since I installed XYplorer I made some changes in Configuration. Now in the Rename Preview window I always get a dark violet background color (which seems to be the same color I use for grid) on every second line, which makes the file names nearly unreadable (especially on my notebook if the lighting conditions aren't that great). I tried the no-install package and there are no such lines, so I'm quite sure I made something wrong (maybe there are two settings which shouldn't be checked at the same time). What do I have to change to remove this background color (It should look like here on the official screenshot. I see the use of a grid or a different background color for every second line, but black font on dark background just is not really that useful for me)?

It would be great if someone could help.

1. Uncheck "Custom Drag'n'drop context menu" in Configuration/Advanced.

2. This is connected to the color for Grid that you have selected in Configuration/Interface Colors. The same color is used for 1pixel-line-grids and for zebra striping. I think I'll have to offer two separate color fields for these in future.

1. I'm really too stupid. I checked all the options and always missed the obvious one... Thank you.

2. Alright, that means if you want to have the grid for the list (where I prefer a darker color) you automatically get this zebra thing for the preview window. I have tried zebra for the list (so that I can choose a brighter color) but find it too distracting. The grid is the better solution for me to easily distinguish the different lines of the list.

Anyways, it's no big deal, I just disabled the grid color in the meantime.

Thank you very much for the answers.

I think the Rename Preview is the only place where the Zebra effect is hard-coded. It might make sense to hard-code the Zebra colors as well. Not sure...

Hey, I think we've all done something like this at least once here..

It's not "too stupid"...just that there are so many options and features to XY that we can't keep track of all of them sometimes!

Thank you, jc. :-)

I don't know what other users think (maybe I'm the only one using a dark color for grid and having thereby a problem with the zebra effect in Rename preview) but it sounds like a good solution.
As I read in the XYwiki (BTW: the Wiki is excellent, as is the Help file) there are already INI Tweaks concerning the Interface. You could use a default color for zebra and if a user really doesn't like it she just could override it here.

Hi,

I do not like Zebra effect, I always remove it where I can.
So do not hard code Zebra effect without a possibilty to turn it off.

It is hard-coded currently in Rename Preview. Or did you turn it off by setting the grid color to white?

Hi,

Yes, I have the grid color to white, so I do not get "Zebra effect" and also have Show Grid not selected.
For me it is okay if I can choose the color for the Zebra effect. I can set it to white and then I do not have
the effect.

I decided to do nothing here. I have no splendid idea for it, and it's not a big problem for anybody anyway. Other things first...

Thank you anyway.

If I decide to purchase a license of XYplorer, I'll just have to use an external tool for renaming (there are so much really wonderful rename tools available for free) because I already had to reactivate grid for list (it's so much easier for me to distinguish the lines in details view for folders with hundreds and hundreds of files).
I know that this is not really a great solution (it's always bad to use additional programs to bypass the flaws of another one) but everything is better than to have nearly unreadable lines in rename preview.

Schnief! (German) You softened my heart. I'll add a tweak in next version... :)
