ASync/Threaded thumbnail generation

In a personal project I was working on (using Qt) I needed to implement thumbnail generation, and in order to prevent that from blocking the main thread (making scrolling unresponsive while thumbnails got generated), I dumped all of that work into an async coroutine. Basically kept the scrolling smooth in the main process as the thumbnails got generated in the coroutine.
Seeing that XY is using twinBASIC now, and that twinBASIC supports multithreading, I was wondering if ASync/Threaded thumbnail generation was even possible on a technical level. Would be nice if XY could generate batches of thumbnails, by spawning in a bunch of threads instead of going one by one.
