I can open a video fine, but the preview shows a still image and below that, the attached error.

Any ideas?

That's a rare error, but it probably means that you're missing some codec.

This script will provide additional insight:

Code: Select all

text get("previewhandler", "mp4");

Returns "No preview handler found for mp4 files." Re codec presence, videos play in windows media player.

Untick "Configuration | Preview | Preview | Audio/Video preview | Use native handling in the preview pane" and try to play the video in the Preview Pane (Ctrl+F11).

Install the K-Lite Codec Pack (Standard)
and it will play mp4 with any software.
