Upgraded to 28.30.1300; new window pops up when clicking on a folder

Today I upgraded to the 64-bit version, 28.30.1300; I noticed that with a window of XYplorer open, if I double click on a folder on my desktop, instead of opening up the current window or tab in the folder that I clicked on, what happens is that XYplorer opens up a new window of whatever folder I clicked on. I'm used to the current window being used, instead of a new window opening up. How can I get XYplorer to simply use the current window? I looked in the Tools/Configuration menu but didn't see an option that seemed to do what I want.
EDIT: FWIW I rebooted the computer, but still the same.

This must be unchecked: Configuration | General | Startup & Exit | Open new instance always

I believe I still have the 32 bit 27.x on my laptop. Should I uninstall that? Is that making any difference here?
I was thinking I would keep it until I knew that 28 was stable. I tried a beta 28 several months ago and stopped after a few days.

Under 28.30.1307 there is no such option.
It must be
Configuration | General | Startup & Exit |
Allow multiple instances | Open new instance always
Of course only when multiple instances are enabled.
