Subject: Floating Preview (F11) issues when navigating between JPG and GIF
Message:
Hi, I’m having some trouble with the Floating Preview (F11).
When I navigate through files in a folder using the mouse wheel, JPG files display without any issues. However, when I move from a JPG to a GIF, the previous JPG image remains in the background and overlaps with the GIF. Additionally, the GIF appears in an incorrect position within the preview window.
How can I fix this?

Animated GIFs work for me in a Floating Preview window, but I also noticed they are offset or not centered. Animated GIFs are still a no-go for MDBU.

If we're talking about the x64 version, that's a known issue:

I am using Windows 11 with all major updates installed, and my XYplorer version is v28.20.0500
Additionally, I am writing to report a few more issues I've encountered with v28.20.0500 that started recently.
The "Mouse Down Blow-up" feature is not working for animated GIFs;
they only show a blank white screen, even though it works perfectly for JPGs and was working fine for GIFs until recently.
Also, WebP thumbnails are not being generated at all, so I’m wondering if WebP is supported natively or if there is a specific configuration I should check.
I suspect these issues might be due to a conflict with XnView, which I recently updated.
Could you please advise if these are known issues or if there is a way to resolve them? Thank you.

"I just saw the notification for this issue now.
Regarding the animated GIFs, I've already mentioned the problem, but what about WebP?
I've noticed that WebP thumbnails are not being generated at all.
Does XYplorer support them natively, or is there a specific configuration I should check?"

Codec needed for WebP, below is one option, download at bottom of page,

there are other alternatives though.

If you often need animated GIF previews, you can use the 32-bit version of XYplorer.

Or you can configure "Customize File Association" to use the extremely lightweight
VoidImageViewer just 375.66 KB Pounds

for this purpose — and simply press Enter instead of F11.
Something like this:
Code: Select all
gif>C:\Users\Path\to the\void Image Viewer\voidImageViewer.exe
