Spawn Configuration window in own process to make bug hunting easier

In case the title doesn't describe what I whish for because I don't know the right technical terms: I'd like to be able to change settings in the Configuration window, and use XYplorer at the same time without having to close the Configuration window first.
I think this would help people hunting bugs since changing settings would be faster and we would have a visual reminder of the current settings on screen while fiddling with XYplorer.

This is not possible because various settings can be changed from the main XYplorer window. This would cause the configuration dialog to become out of sync with the actual state of affairs.

Too bad, but makes sense.

Can't you just put an "Apply" button there and once you press that everything is in sync again?

There is an Apply button in Configuration. You mean another one in the main window?

No, but if you click Apply shouldn't the app be in sync with the settings as saved?
This would enable us to change settings, hit apply and see the difference?

Yes, but you will lose any settings that you changed via non-config ways while the config is open.

I think that would be understandable for even the less understanding

You don't know the less understanding.
Maybe later, this has to be done very carefully.

I can confirm as the test dummy for the less understanding sub-group of XY users, this is less understandable...

This can be mitigated by having the callback of any toolbar button toggle or check, to enable the corresponding Configuration setting.
I was "forced" to do a similar chore by the nagging from some of my user friends..
PITA, but doable. The main obstacle is to change the state of widgets without triggering a new event.
I know nothing from VB but in Qt you can block the signals from a widget, change the state and un-block them.
