Future updates for 32-bit version?

Apologies if the topic has already been covered, but will there be future updates for the 32-bit version?
Or is v27.20.0100 the end of the line?
Thanks!

Don has mentioned that he'll continue to squash any bugs in the 32-bit version.

Greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Is there a reason you don't want to update to the current 32bit or 64bit version? What you're currently using is two and-a-half years old.

I fully intend to switch to the 64-bit version eventually.
The impression I get from glancing at recent posts in the BETA Versions for Download thread is that kinks are still being ironed out of the 64-bit version. If I'm wrong about that, please correct me! Was thinking I'd wait for the new version to be more stable before taking the plunge.

In my opinion, the 64bit betas are pretty damn stable. I wouldn't consider myself an XY power user, but the betas have never been a problem for me.
Nevertheless, what you're currently using is quite old and there have been numerous bug fixes and enhancements since them, so why not update to the latest 32bit version while waiting for 64bit?

You made me realize that my profile signature was years out of date! Fixed. Thanks, phred.
I recently upgraded to the most recent 32-bit version (
27.20.0100).
Generally, my practice has been to delay upgrading to the latest major version release until ALL bug fixes have rolled out for the previous version. (So, if you're on version
27.xx, I stick with
26.xx until the final bug fixes for
26.xx have been released. Only AFTER you've moved on to version
28.xx do I upgrade to the final version of
27.xx.)
Put simply, I'm always one major release behind the rest of you. I've been a happy user of XYplorer since 2013, but am not a power user. I selectively implement new features if I need them, but my needs are basic.
Anyway! I'll wait a bit longer, but look forward to jumping from 32-bit to 64-bit soon.
Thanks again for chiming in.

Ah HAH!! That's the main reason I don't put the version number in my sig or profile. I would forget to change it with every new version that I install. Glad we got that straightened out.
I agree with your practice of waiting for major version releases but with the launch of XY64, the betas have pretty rock solid for me that (depending on what's been changed) I install every beta release that Don issues. Since I'm using Portable, if there's an issue I can always roll back a couple of versions.

A sensible man making sensible decisions! When people say, "Tell me about phred," I say, "He's sensible!" Following your lead, I have blitzed my signature, and am now 100% signature-free. Thanks.
I'll splash around in the 32-bit kiddie pool a while longer, but look forward to joining you in the 64-bit grownup pool soon.

Very unusual from you!
Don't you need to remind him of the forum rules to have one's specs either in the location or signature (including version)?
Especially true if one is a major version behind. One would always need to test with the latest version to see if a problem has been fixed already.
On another note, I have always installed the latest beta versions straight away and there were only two occasions
in more than 20 years where I had to revert back to a previous version. So, the beta versions have always been very stable.

I'll let you two duke it out.
In the meantime, signature restored. (Didn't mean to violate forum rules.)

I'm only doing that on bug reports (which is where Don has "the rules" in red at the top of the page.
FWIW, I have discussed doing this with Don as I didn't want to step on any toes. He replied "have at it."

I agree. Only when I first started using XY did I hesitate using betas. Now, depending on what the beta release notes say, I'll (usually) grab it. But I don't hesitate to use a beta.

I use the latest betas of many software all the time.
I never had bad experiences, including XY.
Having most tools as portable installation
allows me to recover any previous version from my ZPAQ backups.

Exactly. Except I use SyncBack Pro for scheduled backups.
I feel that more people are now making backups than five to ten years ago. The thing these people fail to do is to -test- the backup. Not every time a backup is made, but enough times to know that you can restore from it. The last thing you need is the "it's no problem, I have backups" attitude and then the need to restore comes around, it turns out all the backups are no good. Or the user doesn't know how to restore.
