Delay in opening folders

I don't know if it's just me but there is a noticeable delay in opening a folder (by double clicking) when using XYplorer (tested with version 28.00.0200, 64 bit, portable): It takes about 3-4 seconds whereas with the Windows Explorer it opens immediately.

What do you mean?

I got no answer to my above question but I managed to find out by myself what the last poster obviously wanted to tell me:
https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=fresh ("How can I quickly test XYplorer with a fresh configuration?")
Anyway, this procedure was not necessary as I test always with the portable version and already after the first start (= with a fresh configuration) the delay occurs.
It's no terrible delay - one can get accustomed to it - but nevertheless it would be fine if folders could open with the same speed as it happens with the Windows Explorer.
By the way:
It has definitely nothing to do with the size of a folder or the number of files within it. The delay occurs even with empty folders.

Portable and fresh are not the same.
Even your portable XY stores and maintains your custom settings, whereas fresh; starts a new instance with default settings, thus making sure that none of your customized settings are responsible for the problem you are experiencing.
How is your "fresh" configuration created?

O.k. I see. So I should clarify what I mean:
I do not keep the portable version on my computer when I have have finished some tests. E.g. I tested on October 1st, aftwards I removed the portable version from my PC. Today (or yesterday) I downloaded again the No-Install Package in order to continue to test (respectively to get acquainted with the program). - That's the way I do it with every new software until I decide to use it permanently.
So necessarily I have every time a completely fresh configuration with the default settings when I start to use the XYplorer. (Later on of course I play with some settings but the delay is here already before.)

There shouldn't be a delay. If XY isn't much faster than File Explorer, then there must be a reason for that. Usually, the reason is something in your configuration. I would start by investigating the list view. Which columns are you showing?

Thanks for the information, Don. It's good to know that the delay is not the "normal" behaviour. I will investigate further the matter in the way you suggest the next time I will test the program.

First I tried again with the default settings for the columns:
Line numbers / Name / Ext / Size / Type / Modified / Created
Then I reduced to "Name" as the only column.
There was no difference in the delay.

I just saw that you already get the delay in a fresh instance, so testing the columns was not really necessary (sorry!).
I'm currently out of ideas.

No problem. Thanks for your interest in the matter.

Are you guys taking security scanning as part of the possible problem?
Just migrated to XY x64 and initial impressions tell me opening folders is taking longer than x86 - which is completely unexpected to me. Anyway, listing .exe files does impact browsing experience to the point I'm doing my best in moving then into dedicated subfolders, which is definitely not the best thing currently.
Also, devs please take into account (not sure this has being discussed already): Win 10 default security alerted me XY x64 may be a malware.

XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe should be excluded from AV for max performance.
False alerts are a never ending PITA. Tomorrow there will be a new release (v28.00.0300), hopefully without alerts this time.

Good idea. Both of them I mean.

Just as a short feedback:

For me no difference in the delay.
Ah, maybe you are right: With the x86/32-bit version folders seem to open a little bit more quickly than with x64. (But still with a delay compared with the Windows explorer).

Makes for me no difference in the delay.
