XY not retaining configuration

Hi there
I have recently reinstalled my computer and am having a problem with XY retaining my previous configuration. The steps I am following are as follows:
1. Using Load Configuration I load my previous configuration
2. XY restarts and shows the configuration
3. If I then close XY and restart it, it forgets the configuration and resets to the default.
My XY configuration is not in the same directory as the default, I have it stored elsewhere.
Any ideas please?
Ach

Is the previous configuration in a different location than the app data path stated in Startup.ini?

I expect so looking at the file. I'm not sure which setting to check, as there isn't one called app data path or appdata etc. If it is StartPath this simply says "This PC"

Startup.ini is in app path (<xypath>\Startup.ini)

Startup.ini is in app path (
<xypath>\Startup.ini)
[Appdata]
Path=%appdata%\XYplorer64
So do I need to change this to the location of my configuation?

With Load Configuration you loaded a different path? If yes, did you expect to stay in that path read/write, or to copy the configuration of that path to %appdata%\XYplorer64 (overwriting whatever is there) and stay there?
I'd like to hear the opinions of others as well.

Yes, I loaded my previous configuration, prior to reinstalling my computer. I expected that XY would simply remember that this was my last configuration and so whenever I reopened XY it would use that. I had expected that the configuration would remain where it was and that the installation would use that location to store any and all configuration changes. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, I would expect that too. So, something locally (-> lastini.dat in <xydata>) would overwrite the path in Startup.ini. That's generally cool but one has to think about company contexts where users have limited rights. Needs some meditation ... well, you can as well overwrite Startup.ini using command line /ini=, so why not using lastini.dat!

Interestingly when I upgrade the app using the update command in the command bar, the new version loads without the last config. Closing and reopening fixes this.
