Tweaks for renaming with dots and spaces

I have looked through the settings, I have looked through the INI file and I couldn't find anything remotely close so here we go :) It would be very nice if the following tweaks could be added:

1. Disallow spaces in a file name upon a rename.

Stemming from (1) we have 2 consequential tweaks:

a) Auto-replace spaces with a specified character (dot, dash, underscore etc)
b) Auto-trim any possible space before the dot separating a file name and extension

I hope it's not too much to ask ;)

IMHO, I think it may be...given that we have the "Rename Special > Spaces to _" and other options to perform this function.

And I do believe that your request could be satisfied by a UDC and/or script.

The tweaks are intended to fine tune the options that are available ;) and far easier for me 8)

you can already replace spaces with '_'

right-click / rename special / 'Spaces to _'

under user / manage commands you can also setup your own rename rules.

or, regular expression would work. eg: ( ) > -

will change all the spaces to a dash

Hello, I am not familiar with the program and cannot seem to figure out your instructions. I need exactly what you are showing. I want a right click on file/files and then rename special but use dashes.

Can you explain how to do this?

Thank you

That's not possible, you can't modify that XY context menu
