Tab Jumping Behavior

Tab Jumping Behavior
I use a vertical dual pane and tab widths set to 100, so the tabs generally overflow off pane.
When the tabs overflow off the pane -> a clicked tab will jump to the rightmost visible position, or the second to the right most visible position, on the pane.
Is there a way to keep the tabs from jumping positions when clicked, maintaining their position? Perhaps through a custom event action by running a script at startup... or any other way. It's a small thing but when you work with tabs a lot, it is bothersome.
Additional info -
I've configured the minimum and maximum tab width to 100 but this behavior still occurs at the defaults of 25 and 250.
XYversion 27.00.0100 (but behavior exists in all previous versions)
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.
