file icons

File icons in this folder are wonky. At the moment some are showing and some are not. Usually none of them show.
This folder has 9 files all of the same type. Notice the first 4 are showing the icon but the last 5 are not.
Also notice the last file is selected, and the correct icon is showing in the status bar at the bottom.

The second screenshot is the same folder in Windows Explorer. All 9 files show the proper icon.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried:
View > Caches > Refresh Icons?

Thanks for the suggestion yuyu. I didn't know about Refresh Icons. I just tried it now, but it didn't change anything.

Try to assign a "Custom File Icon" for it

Something like:

Code: Select all

"QDF-backup" *.qdf-backup>{full path to the application that belongs to it.exe}

Strange!

Is it only this file type?
Is it only this folder?
Is it always the same files that get the wrong icon?

I have seen a similar issue with non standard filename extensions, one that is easy to repro (for me) is with .appxbundle in particular, the icon is not shown in the list for me, but does display ok in the statusbar IP, HB, actionlog etc.

To repro, (On Windows 10 maybe 11, 8 may not be the same) you should be able to just rename any file to .appxbundle, ie the icon isn't contained in the file, it is just registered for the filetype extension, the icon may show initially but a refresh subsequently shows plain white icon (in the list only). BTW the same happens with genuine .appxbundle files obviously.

Since the icon does show up temporarily when first renamed, until refresh, then is overdrawn with the plain white icon, to me it seems like it is initially drawing the correct icon but something is causing it to be redrawn. If I set a CFI rule it mitigates it, since I assume those are drawn last.

Thanks! Got it. Both extensions will work in the next beta.

Thanks admin! I appreciate your devotion to this product!

To answer your earlier questions, yes, this just happens in this one folder, with this one filetype, for me. All other folders and all other file types work as expected.

Is it fixed now with the current beta?

This is such a little thing, but it's beautiful! Thanks for addressing it!
