So I can see the merits of XY and how it resolves a number of intractable Win Exp issues, and stumped up for a lifetime license two weeks ago without pfaffing about with a trial. There have been a few 'wins' so I am happy about that. Then I stumble across this rather frustrating issue of the right click menu not being the same plus frills, or some part of the installation process dealing with what one wants to retain, or not.

Key to me is the ability to right click and combine files in Acrobat, something I use very often. Using Win Exp fixes it, but hardly a compelling workaround...

Finally, I got round to having a proper look at what happened here. With three image files selected, the below attachment shows the right click menu I am presented with for each application (both taken a few minutes ago, using today's release of XY). The stars rate the importance to me of the ones now missing. I especially want those Acrobat ones back! But any with 2 or more stars I would like to retain. This is a Win 10 Pro 64 PC I built to CAD station specs.

I appreciate that the right click menu often gets swamped with stuff not always wanted / changing needs, but the point is this is a totally well understood area and needs to be managed in the transition to replacement software. The outliers should be flagged, ticked or not by the user, and then be part of the XY install. That is a feature request. Getting the ones I want back is a (kinda) bug request! Thank you.

Try enabling this:

Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | [x] Show the 64-bit context menu

That fixed it, thank you. Except the actual solution was simpler! I do remember pouring over the options on that tab and not ticking that option. So it was a deliberate choice. But I now see this is what the extra XY menu items are about, adding features but the 64 bit menu can be clicked to reveal all the 'missing' menu items when right clicking normally. So, now I have scored one for the dummies, I will leave it unticked and can easily get at the 'missing' items whenever I want. The terminology may be remarkably unintuitive, but the process is simple. Thanks for getting me on the right path .
