In Dual Pane, top pane has 'frozen' tabs

This is an odd one I've had before. Unfortunately, I don't remember how it got solved last time (maybe an update but now I'm running the latest version so...).

In Dual Pane mode, the top pane has a certain number of 'frozen' tabs. By frozen I mean, clicking them does nothing, as if I was just clicking an image, I therefore cannot browse the content of that tab.
And it's not tab-specific either. So if I close some 'frozen' tabs - using keyboard shortcuts since I cannot click the 'x' on the tab itself - some of the previously functioning tabs now become 'frozen'.

When I disable Dual Pane and therefore the lower pane becomes my main top pane, the previously fully functional lower pane now has some 'frozen' tabs too??

Is this a known issue? Any solutions?

EDIT: Navigating from tab to tab using keyboard shortcuts works fine, it's just clicking on them with the mouse that does nothing.

No, I have never had this and have no idea where it could come from other than an external influence. Do you use 3rd party skins?

No, didn't even know that existed.

Not for XY, for Windows.

Anyway, try to find a pattern. Which tabs are frozen, which are not.

Ok, I figured it out. This could be interesting for you to know for troubleshooting other possible problems...
It was my wireless mouse's battery that was very very low. It was perfectly functional for every other 99% of the my computer tasks like browsing the internet, using other programs and...the lower pane in XY (and every other menu/function) but not the top pane!?
For some strange reason, it seems that draws more energy??
