Stop Tree From Scrolling w/o Locking

Is there a way to stop the tree from scrolling while still having it expand to the current folder without locking it? I want it to continually expand while I navigate in my tabs so I can see where I am, but I want to keep my Rapid Access in view at the top the whole time. Basically, just let me scroll manually if I want to view more of the tree. Thanks!

One way would to be add a script such as: topindex(t, t); to a CEA, possibly,

Configuration | General | Custom Event Actions >> Other Events > Switch Tabs

There would be a little flash in the tree though if the folder you swap to would be out of view. You might find an alternate CEA might work better depending on your preference.

That might work for switching tabs, but I also want the tree to stay stationary while navigating through folders in the current tab. Essentially, just keep the tree locked to the top at all times unless I choose to move it.

As I said, add it to an alternate CEA instead to match your preference, such as "After Painting the File List".

Ah ha, yup, that worked like a charm! Thanks!

There should really be a feature to scroll lock the tree...

So, that script takes the tree to the top, which is great (for now). Can you think of one that would keep the tree in the same spot? That's what I'm looking for. So if I'm already at the top to see my Rapid links, then it stays there, but if I'm halfway down navigating through folders, it doesn't jump back to the top. Just stick to the spot I'm at.

Not really, that's why I thought it only scrolling to the top on Tab Switch might be desirable, of course scroll to top could also be triggered by a shortcut key/btn etc too, additionally Ctrl+Shift+TreeWhitespace DblClick does it by default. As an alternative maybe you should try using the Mini Tree.

Don, I think this one can be very useful, maybe more useful with a CID or something where we can turn the option on and off on demand. Sometimes you feel like on nut and sometimes you don't. :)

Yes, one could also add it to Tools | Customize Tree | - submenu -.

Are there more opinions out there?

Well, that silence probably means: yes, change it to a menu command (with a CID).

OTOH it's neat to have "Scroll selected folder into view" and "Scroll selected folder to the top" in one place, so I won't change anything for now.

Just talking to myself. Sorry to disturb your sleep. :titter:

Hi Don, I would have chimed in again, but I already had, so I figured you were waiting for the OP or someone else's comments. Anyway, I still think it would be helpful to have some way to quickly turn the feature on and off (e.g., setting, conf, CID, etc.). Not a huge deal though.
