After testing a large number of versions, the following rules were finally discovered:
When I am in a folder with relatively many files, opening subfolders and returning to the previous level are very sluggish, and it takes about a second to respond each time before I can open them. The previous versions were all opened in seconds.
The specific performance is: from the version 26.40.0207 (including this version) to the latest version 26.50.0200, there has been a stuttering phenomenon.
Currently, it is found that 26.40.0206 is the last version that does not have any issues. I don't know what has changed since 0206.
I hope the author can fix it as soon as possible. Thank you very much!

The opening response speed of versions before 26.40.0206 is also normal.

This is the only difference between the two versions:
Code: Select all
v26.40.0207 - 2024-09-27 19:00
% Line Numbers: In the main file list and all small lists, the line numbers are now
printed a bit smaller (about 90%) than the main list data. Looks better and makes
things easier to read.
So, set this to
100:
Configuration | Colors and Styles | Fonts | Line numbers relative font size (%)
Now v26.40.0207 should run identical to v26.40.0206.

I don't think this is a good solution; v26.40.0206 and earlier versions can run smoothly without any settings changes; There are some problems with the current new version of settings

After testing, it is indeed this option that causes the lag. As long as it is not the default 100% display, it will be stuck. I don't know why

Using Chinese Windows?
If yes, when you select
Help | Various Information, what are your settings in the 3rd block? Mine are these:
Code: Select all
System / Thread Locale ID: 1033 (en-US) / 1033 (en-US)
Default ANSI Code Page: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
Active ANSI Code Page: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
Default OEM code page: 437 (OEM - United States)
Active OEM Code Page: 437 (OEM - United States)
DBCS Code Page: No
Main Contents Font: Segoe UI 9
Buttons & Labels Font: Segoe UI 9

It may be caused by compatibility issues with the Chinese encoding; The current solution is to set the ratio to 100%, which is very smooth.
