XYPlorer crashes when snapping to PowerToys Fancy Zones

Using latest xyplorer version 26.50.0100, PowerToys version 0.85.1

I have Microsoft Powertoys running with the Fancy Zones feature enabled, 2 zones are setup per monitor. I have a 3 monitor setup.
When attempting to snap XYPlorer's window to one of the Zones XYPlorer crashes when the zone used is not on the primary monitor. Snapping to a Zone on the primary monitor works correctly and no crash.

Crash means it just disappears without an error message?

I get the same "crash" (window disappears with no error message).

If I move to a fancy zone on the same monitor, no issues, but if it move from one monitor to a fancy zone on another monitor, the crash occurs.

It's been happening since before 26.40 as far as I can remember. I just got used to moving it to the other monitor first, release, then move it to a fancy zone to prevent the window from closing.

Having the same problem. Thu, Nov 21, 2024 10:25 AM

Moving xyplorer window from 2nd Monitor to 1st Monitor using FancyZones. The window disappears when dropped. Xyplorer remains in memory but no window is rendered anywhere. Xyplorer is then not functional, no new windows can be opened until the task is "killed" or system rebooted.

There appears no application or system error logged in Windows 11 and the window snap seems to fill the area required by FancyZones, but the moment the window fills the frame it disappears into non-visual memory and prevents the program from restarting without intervention.

I understand FancyZones is part of the beta of Power Toys and ongoing changes create intermittent problems. But it is a very useful tool for us that use shifting windows often to do various tasks, including using XYplorer extensively for many tasks where I must move the window quickly.

The Workaround. Not using drag and drop with FancyZones shift key setting the various monitor panels defined, but to use WIN-Left, WIN-Right etc. to shift the window across the defined panels in one direction or another with FancyZones setting Override Windows Snap moving by zone index (windows key + < or >) set.
