Hello,

The issue only exist on XP systems, on Windows 7 systems and up, the issue doesn't occur.
This JPEG file is an exception, nearly all JPEG files are previewed correctly.
I have joined the JPEG file to this post as an attachment.
ufw-firewall-linux.zip

The file is opened in ACDSee without issue :

Interesting case. Could not repro it (no XP handy), but it will be handled with more grace in the next beta.

PS: I assume you got the same error when previewing the image in the preview tab?

It's the first time I have an issue like this since 2011 (date of purchasing of my licence).
The file comes from this web page :

In addition to the error, the file is locked by XYplorer once the error is displayed.
I need to close and restart XYplorer for moving or deleting the file.

In case it may help admin, as I also got XP, I tested that particular pic. Here is the exact moment where it happened :

Code: Select all

15.70.0100 (02-Sep-2015) : decode ok (downloaded from Freezer, tested, also tested some preceding versions, all ok)
====================================

https://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=4&start=3407

v15.70.0121 - 2015-09-15 20:39
! Image Preview: Hang on certain corrupt JPGs. Fixed.

v15.70.0124 - 2015-09-18 15:14
! MDBU: Hang on certain corrupt JPGs. Fixed.
! Thumbnails Creation: Hang on certain corrupt JPGs. Fixed.

v15.70.0131 - 2015-09-21 16:45
! Thumbnails Creation: Too many "Can't decode" since v15.70.0124. Fixed.

v15.70.0132 - 2015-09-22 09:32
! Image Preview: Some JPGs were not correctly parsed. Fixed.

15.80.0200 (26-Oct-2015) : doesn't decode (downloaded and tested, also tested some following versions, no decode)
=========================================
It happens same to me, very (very) rarely, that a .jpg doesn't decode on my XP system with the version I use (19.70.0100) but it's not a problem as it happens maximum a couple of times... per year.

pixelsearch gave me an idea.
I did a test with XYplorer 13.90.0100.
Something seems to have been broken. :cry: :eh:

No debug build ?
No virtual machine ?

Not worth the pain. This is one malformed JPEG that fails in one outdated OS.
