Global custom folder icons not showing?

Howdy all! Loving XYPlorer except for one thing that I can't seem to figure out...
I've found other similar posts but none with my particular problem or a solution that works for me. If I'm wrong, plz forgive.
I have a custom icon for general folders (the ones that are usually that ugly yellow-folder icon by default), but in XYPlorer they still show as the default windows folder icon. I'm NOT talking about setting a custom icon for a particular folder by creating a desktop.ini file in that folder, etc... I'm talking about a GLOBAL icon that's used for all folders (except for special folders that already have a different icon, like My Documents, etc.).
Same as millions of others do using the icon packages available all over the web (wincustomize.com, for one)
I've played around with the relevant settings. At the moment "cache specific icons" is OFF and "use generic icons" is OFF... restarted, no difference.
Funny enough, custom icons applied from the same packages DO appear as it should for special folders (My Documents, My Computer, My Music, etc.), but not for "regular" folders.
Working fine in xplorer2, but I really REALLY prefer XYPlorer
Any help would be appreciated!

Howdy + welcome!
I'm surprised. It should work. I myself never use custom icons -- I will try if it's the only way to fix this. But before I'd like to get a comment by any other user -- as I said: it should work!

Well, to check this I installed a program called
rainbow folders to check and it does work for me in v7.40.0022.

Haven't tried anything, but that app looks to me like the typical desktop.ini thing, which is not what lanel is talking about here is...

Thanks for the responses, appreciated!
The particular program I'm using is Stardock's IconPackager (
http://www.stardock.com/products/iconpackager/), one of the more popular ones.

When you show a folder on the Info Panel (by selecting it in the file list): is the icon displayed on the Properties tab also wrong?

Unfortunately yes, in the info panel it also displays incorrectly (but correctly for special folders)
I've attached two screenshots, one taken using Windows' explorer, and one using XYPlorer

Please check the next beta version. It might make a difference in the List (not in the Tree yet). Ensure you have "Cache Specific Icons" = OFF.

Sad to say it's still the same (dit set Cache Specific Icons off)... I changed the icon package to see if that was perhaps the problem, but the same thing... special folders, all the files' icons, everything displays correcty except for normal folders.
At least I have 30 days trial left with the Beta, hope you can figure it out :-)

I'll add my welcome to XY as well...but did you see any posts in the Beta thread saying there was a new vers since Don said "next" vers? So while he is quick to fix things, he's also thorough, so keep an eye on that thread and then you'll know when it's time to try it out, ok?

I'm afraid there's no change to this specific problem...
v7.40.0025 with "cache specific icons" OFF and "use generic icons" OFF... restarted... tree, list and info panel all same as before.

Okay, thanks. Weird thing! For all I know there are not many secrets in retrieving the shell icons for files and folders. I'm very surprised that you tell that XYplorer apparently does it differently from all (?) other apps!?

No ideas at the moment...
