Toolbars - new line
Toolbars - new line
Don, most users are going to be very pleased about this change, v25.70.0111. Me included. Initially I was thinking it would be nice to have the capability to make Button set#2 the second line, but after seeing how it works, now I do not. The Button Set(s) include any additional lines within the set. So, I can have Button Set #1 with 2 lines and button set 2 with just one line. Once I worked with it a very short time I liked it. I soon realized I should move "New Line" down to the end of the list (if I want it to be a second line under the first) and then add the new Toolbar buttons under the new line. Again, very nice implementation.

Re: Toolbars - new line
Maybe a toolbar - new line growing pain. I noticed if I display the address bar (I usually don't have AB on as a default and only turn it on as needed) with 2 toolbar lines (Set#1) this is what I see. It's like the AB is set between the 2 toolbar lines.
Edit: I should have mentioned though probably obvious, the picture is with option, "Address bar and Toolbar bar stacked" - Not checked.
Is there any way that you could make the Address Bar an individual component that can be added to a toolbar line as you did with the menu items (e.g., File, Edit, View...etc)? Probably not since it's a separate entity. I have scripted the addition of an address bar to appear when on Button Set#2.

Re: Toolbars - new line
No problem Don. Did you get a chance to look at the primary reason for the post, the first paragraph which discusses the placement of the Address bar when there are 2 lines (when the AB and toolbar are NOT stacked)? It would be best if the AB was in front (or back) and in line with the topmost toolbar line. Thanks.

Re: Toolbars - new line
hello
In the new toolbars line, I put all the menus and drives.
Would it be possible to put the menus on the left and the drives completely on the right without using the separator?
that is, with spaces in the middle
thank you

Re: Toolbars - new line
Since it's probably unlikely Don would do what you're looking for. What you can do is:
1 - Put all your menu items on the left side and add a new CTB using Customize Toolbar to the right (below) of those menu items.
2 - Next Edit the toolbar button you just added (Ctrl-right click on the CTB). In the name field,
put
3 - Now go back to the Customize Toolbar and add the Drive buttons you desire.

with a bunch of spaces (the number spaces you want is up to you. You may have to experiment) and press enter.3 - Now go back to the Customize Toolbar and add the Drive buttons you desire.

klownboy: ok
zzjean: not planned
I played a bit with combining the address bar with a multiline toolbar. Something like that will be possible:

Re: Toolbars - new line
You don't have to use captions. By doing what I said, you will just see space in the toolbar (no caption is displayed). By the way you can even assign actions for the left and right click to that white space.

Re: Toolbars - new line
OK thank you. It works. With a seperator on both sides it's perfect
Re: Toolbars - new line
OK Don thanks. I set up my Button Set #2 exactly how described in the beta notes
In further testing, it looks like it may be alright as long as "Toolbar first" is saved when the user has toolbar #1 displayed. As I mentioned I'm using the beta note arrangement for Button Set #2, so it looks like for that case you must ensure you have "Toolbar first" set and saved for Toolbar Set #1. Apparently, XYplorer is not set to save separate arrangements for different button sets. Not a big deal really. I just thought I'd mention it for other users who may be testing arrangements.
It works, but unfortunately it doesn't save that configuration properly when that arrangement is used for Burron Set #2. It seems to revert back to a Address bar in front like the picture I sent the other day. So, I'm not sure if it's because XY is not saving arrangements for 2 (or more) Button Sets when they're different?- The toolbar has more than one line.
- Window | Arrangement | Address Bar and Toolbar Stacked = OFF
- Window | Arrangement | Toolbar First = ON

Re: Toolbars - new line
Yes, I'm currently thinking about the pros and cons of saving the following settings along with each button set:
Window | Arrangement | Address Bar and Toolbar Stacked
Miscellaneous | General Functions | Toggle Main Menu
Window | Arrangement | Toolbar First

Re: Toolbars - new line
OK Don, would that necessitate changes/additions to SC setlayout / loadlayout as well (e.g., ToolbarFirst2=1, ABTBStacked2=0)? The original attributes for Toolbar Set #1 stay the same (e.g., ToolbarFirst=1). Changing the original layout attributes could mess up some old scripts.

Re: Toolbars - new line
Hi Don,
thank you for the new multi-line toolbar feature. It is nice.
I think it will also be liked by many (potential) customers.
That said, I wouldn't be me if I didn't have one or two suggestions.
Scenario: I have the menu group in the first toolbar row and buttons in the second toolbar row
Now, there are two potential issues I see:

Now, there are two potential issues I see:
- The first point is not as big an issue, still, it would be nice if the line without buttons could have its own size setting. (Font size and/or row height.) Right now it sometimes feels like a mismatch, when both lines are visually so close together.
- The second point is potentially more important: When I have the list font size increased by Ctrl+MouseWheel, e.g. to 15 pt, then it also affects the font size of the address bar. When the address bar is merged with the first row of the toolbar, and it has a bigger font, then it starts to overlap with the second row of the toolbar. The seriousness of this issue also depends on the toolbar button size.
