Change pane size when switching

Is this possible to swap pane size (or automatically stretch activating pane) when switching the pane?

In my usage of dual panes, the second pane is usually used for assisting. It keeps silent in most of the time except file operation or quick view (or etc), so when I am switching the pane, I hope the "background pane" stretched and the original pane shirinked.

Example:
When normal use:
