Problem with Click and search: Labels
Posted: 15 Dec 2023 11:11

Hello
1 - I created a “Click and search: Labels” category in my catalog. When I run a search, I have no results : "This view is empty".
It is also impossible to create a “Click and search: Tags” category - XYplorer gives a message: Error 9 Subscript out of range.
I tried with a fresh configuration, and got the same result.
2 - with my normal configuration (not fresh) I cannot copy the labels, comments... although validating the operation.
XYplorer version 25.30.0015

I copy this file on an other disk (X:) - note : this file exist on X :

- Capture d'écran 4.png (3.6 KiB) Viewed 1396 times
I validate

- Capture d'écran 5.png (14.57 KiB) Viewed 1396 times
and the result

- Capture d'écran 6.png (3.11 KiB) Viewed 1396 times
Label not copied
This only happens with files already existing in the destination folder.

I could not reproduce it, but I saw a possible fix. Try the next beta.

Tags are only copied when files are copied. So in your case, the tags will be copied if you
overwrite the file with the same name in the destination folder.

OK OK Thank you.
I I generally use "Overwrite if different size or date".
so I tried to overwrite and actually it works perfectly. It's a fine distinction. thanks for the precision
So I'm waiting for the next beta and I'll keep you informed

Hello
It didn't work on my PC.
I saw that I no longer had any tags defined in tag.dat. I created a few and everything works now. Fine
thank you for everything

I can reproduce the Error 9 this way, so maybe it' related:
I don't have any files tagged at all on my system. I go to Catalog -> Insert as New Category Here -> Click and Search: Tags -> Error 9
Code: Select all
Error: 9 (0x00000009)
Desc: Subscript out of range
Dll: 0
Proc: MCMU
Source: XYplorer
XY ver: XYplorer 25.40.0000 - Lifetime License Enterprise
OS: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, 64-bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044.3803 (10.0)
Locale: 1033 (en-US)
ANSI: 1250, ACP: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
Font: Segoe UI 9, Segoe UI 9, DBCS: No
DPI: 96 (100%), 1920x1080

This happens regardles if I have any tags defined in my Tag List or not.

Where do you see "Insert as New Category Here / Click and Search: Tags "? It should be greyed out if there are no tags.

Hi,
Strange stuff here. So I nuked an entire tag and label list from Configuration -> Options -> Remove all tags, and only now is grayed out.
I add again a tag to a folder (funny enough it remembered the las tag I was using) -> I go to List management -> Tag list -> It's empty. Why is it empty if I just tagged a folder? (Screenshot below)

Now I go to the Catalog -> Right click the category -> Insert as New Category Here / Click and Search: Tags -> It's not grayed out and when clicked there is a tag "Series" as it should, and it finds the files perfectly. The configuration window shows that there are 2 items tagged. Tag List is still empty, toolbar buttons show that there are no tags.
So this must be what happened, the list showed there are no tags, but they must have been saved somewhere else, so the option wasn't greyed out.
I hope you can make some sense out of all this, and it's useful...

And how _exactly_ did you add these tags?

I right clicked on an empty space in "Tags" column -> Add last tags: Series

This will not add such a tag to a tag list^^
Use the "Add Tags..." entry and check the box at the bottom of that window

Sure, I have no problem with the workflow as such, but is there a reason that "such" a tag wouldn't be added to a Tag list? I would expect it to be there, because otherwise it gets very confusing - what is the difference between a Tag and a Tag? If it will not be added to the list, why offer it as an option?
It only makes sense to me that this is a very specific case where there are no tags in the list, but the last tag used remained saved somewhere in some cache file, so it does offer it back to the user, but it doesn't populate the list for some reason or other....
