Do I have to enable custom columns?

Post by autocart »

Hello all,

Do I have to enable custom columns?
On my older installation of XY, custom columns work as expected.
But on my more recent XY on a different machine, they just don't work, as it seems.

Regards, me

I set them up, e.g. the pre-defined MD5 column, triggered upon click.
When I click on the column for an item, on the one machine it displays the MD5 value, on the other machine nothing happens.

So, since I also don't remember activating custom columns on my first machine, they should just work, right?
Strange. Well, knowing that I did not overlook anything is also worth something. Thx for replying.

The only difference that I can see is that the one XY is installed.
The 2nd XY is portable (where CC don't work).

Aaaahhhhrrrrgggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only "click" triggers did not work.
And why? -> Full row select!

Is there a solution to have both? Full row select and CC triggered by click?

Clicking for e.g. md5 in a cc works fine here even with full row select...

ok, thx for your help again.
I am glad for you if it works on your end.

On my two machines it is very clear now:
FRS ON -> cc click does nothing.
FRS OFF -> cc click works as expected.

But it's "ok". At least now I know and am not going crazy anymore.
Would have been nice for it to work for me too, but I can live without it.

regards, me

Ah, ok, trigger click on cc while Full Row Select is ON works with details view.
But it does not work with details with thumbnails #1 view (which I started using as my default now).

DON, are you there? I found some work for you.
Just if you have time. And if it makes sense to you. Could you fix this, please?

In "Details with Thumbnails #1" view and Full Row Select turned ON?

If the click-trigger of Custom Columns works with these settings then I give really give up figuring it out.
Anyway, thx for testing.

Tick this: Configuration | Information | Tags | Also on Full Row Select

(I know, I know, it should be related to this, but it is.)

Ok, that did the trick. Thank you, Don. It works now as I would hope for.

You might want to consider having Configuration | Information | Tags | Also on Full Row Select ticked by default.

Because I could reproduce my initial problem with a fresh instance, by just switching to "Details with Thumbnails #1", turning FRS ON, and adding a click-triggered CC. Ok, not very common, I admit. So maybe the current defaults are fine.

I don't know. I don't understand FRS people. They are aliens to me.
