XYplorer Beta Club

Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I JUST updated to 25.00.0200. Restarted, and now I can't double click any files to open them from XYplorer. I can't even minimize or close it with the icons in the upper right. I keep getting a "the other application is busy" error. Try again does nothing. "Switch to..." clears the popup, but doesn't switch to anything. Not sure what's going on. I've been using XYplorer for years. (Decades?) Everything worked fine before the update.

Is there a way to go back to the previous version without losing my customizations?

EDIT: forgot to mention that after I finally clear the box, everything seems locked up. I get a (not responding) message for XYplorer, and it seems to shoot up to 10% of the CPU, but without any corresponding disk activity for the process.

Quit all XY processes, copy over an older version (just the .exes).

This "Switch to..." message comes from a preview handler. You may have accidentally triggered a heavy duty preview (PDF, DOCX), probably in a hover box. I suggest you disable the hover box and try again (uncheck Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box).

Thanks! I will try the hover change. I also uninstalled my antivirus, which was a resource hog to the point of using 7+ GB of RAM (out of 32), but will remain nameless (but it rhymes with Schmitdefender) so that may be part of the issue. I'm kind of glad to get rid of it, actually. Anyone have suggestions for a new AV that's light on resources?

I recommend ESET. I have used many AVs in my time, and settled on ESET many years ago and never looked back. They keep changing the names, so now the ideal popular one is ESET Advanced Security.

Couldn't agree more. Discovered it in 2011 with one license and am still using it today only now with four licenses.
