How about adding an "Oliver North Function". i.e. a shredder to the File|Delete menu. Not anything elaborate but when Delete-No Recycle Bin just isn't enough.

You can add a toolbar button though, its called nuke  .
If I am correct It overwrites the file 5 times.
There is also an ID assigned to this, its #1054 (I was hoping for 666).
You will find this in Tools>Customized Keyboard Shortcuts> Miscellaneous, which means you can assign shortcut too.

Handle with care.

Not to my knowledge! It only skips all confirm msgs and bypasses the Recycle bin, so to overwrite requires either new code or an external appl.

I think this wish has been talked about before, and found this thread from very long ago: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1124

 , I was only stating Don's future plans. :P .

But this has had many requests and for some reason I believed that it was already erasing not deleting. Don't blame me, look at the way Don has quoted, as if it will be implemented next day (which by the way is very common by Don's standards):

Code: Select all

v6.80.0116 - 2008-03-29 09:41
Remark: Take care with "Nuke"! While it currently does not erase
data beyond restorability, you will need specialized software to
restore a nuked file. In a planned future version of Nuke, not
      even this will help...
admin wrote:Is there any demand for shreddering out there? I don't want to bloat the app but this would be so bloody easy to add...
admin wrote:Of course, the combination of "no confirmation " + "no way to restore" would unnecessarily deadly. So it will be:

Delete: confirmation (not if disabled in config) + recycle (not if Shift is down)
Mexican Delete (so or  ): no confirmation + no recycle (but can be restored with special software) (= what now is called Nuke)
Nuke: confirmation + no way to restore
Sorry, aurumdigitus this feature is not yet implemented. But as you see from previous posts, it is very popular.

As a new user these things just pop into my mind. Perhaps the moral is to Search before Posting.

But on the other hand - to use a line from the movie Snatch - "Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity".

Simply use SDelete in the mean time (integrate it to XY via UDC). See:
