Drag&Drop in Win11 not working

Hello,
Ever since I upgraded to Win11, I have had a problem with Drag&Drop, specifically, I would select a bunch of files or directories (in XYPlorer) and drag them to my file renamer program to be processed. This worked wonderfully before Win11.

So, I was having the problem in Win11 and started searching for answers. I tried a couple of software solutions that didnt work, but finally found a few different sources saying that disabling UAC with a small registry change would fix the problem. I did that, and, at first, I didnt think it was working, cause I still couldnt drag from XYPlorer. On a hunch, I tried dragging from File Explorer, and it worked fine.

Truthfully, I dont like the solution of having to disable UAC, but I guess I will use it for now.

Is there a setting or something in XYPlorer that would allow Drag&Drop to work again for me?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I noticed that if I put both XYPlorer and the file renamer windows side by side, the Drag&Drop DOES work. What I was doing previously, was dragging the files down to the taskbar icon for the file renamer, and THAT is the operation that doesnt seem to work anymore. What I am looking for is a fix for THAT. If there is none, well, I will accept that too.....I will just have to change my way of working a little.

Drag and drop to the taskbar doesn't work in the current Windows 11.
It will again be possible in one of the next versions.
Currently, you can use tools like StartAllBack (I use it)
or Explorer patcher to get this function.

Drag and drop will only work if both tools run on the same privilege level.
If one runs with enhanced rights, it will not work in one direction.
Just stop to run always with higher privileges and it will work.

Thanks, HighEnd!
I am on Win11 22H2. The file renamer tool that I use is Advanced Renamer (advancedrenamer.com)

As for Horst's post, thank you as well! I DID have XYPlorer running in admin mode and AR running in regular mode, so I exited XYP and started in regular mode and I get further, but, it is really weird. I can drag the files down to the taskbar and I see the cursor with the + sign in AR, but when I let go of the left button, the files/directories dont drop....like I didnt drag anything at all.

OK, I restarted the computer and ran both XYP and AR non-elevated and I can now drag my files from XYP to AR as I used to.

I actually cannot remember why I started running XYP in admin mode by default in the first place. I think it had to do with some operation that I couldnt run in non-elevated mode.....not sure.

So, it looks like my issue may be solved!

Thank you HighEnd and Horst!

Make a feature request regarding AR to implement User Interface Privilege Isolation (UIPI), then you could even drag and drop from an application (like XY) running with higher elevation privileges on to AR (running with lower privileges)...

Windows only prevents drag and drop from lower privileged programs
to running programs with higher privileges.
The other direction (from higher to lower) is no problem.

Yep, it all seems to be working now, even if I start XYP in admin mode and AR in regular mode. I just needed to go about it systematically as directed by you guys (Highend and Horst......that could be a great name for a law firm!)

Thank you very much for your help!
