Inaccurate or missing Meta Data for audio files?
Posted: 20 Apr 2023 17:44
The Meta data for my audio files seems to be somewhat lacking or even incorrect, based on what other programs show for the same file. For instance, XYplorer shows this info (partial, no need to past ALL the irrelevant stuff):
Bit Depth: 16-bit
Bit Rate: 744 kBit/s
Channels: 2
Length: 03:59.444
Sample Rate: 44,100 Hz
Item type: MPEG-4 Audio File
File extension: .m4a
Type: MPEG-4 Audio File
Where other programs (like MediaInfo) show this (again, partial but relevant parts):
Format : MPEG-4
Format profile: Apple audio with iTunes info
Codec ID: M4A (M4A /mp42/isom)
File size : 21.2 MiB
Duration : 3 min 59 s
Overall bit rate mode : Variable
Overall bit rate : 744 kb/s
Rating : Explicit
AccurateRipResult : AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence 9) [2F1DBE21]
AccurateRipDiscID : 017-0029d247-021646c8-da103c11-8
Audio
ID : 1
Format : ALAC
Codec ID : alac
Codec ID/Info : Apple Lossless Audio Codec
I guess I always thought that "meta was meta", and "it is what it is"! There is some important info that is just not being reported, or being reported correctly. I do realize that this is not the primary function of XYplorer, but it IS important for the project I am undertaking. Any thoughts or ideas to get this resolved?
Thanks!
