Problem viewing ZIP files
Problem viewing ZIP files
I am trialing XYplorer for use. I am a long time user of Directory Opus, but I have started dabbling in virtual desktops and it will not allow multiple instances. XYplorer is great in that regard.
One problem I have found ... if my backup program stores files in the ZIP using the full path, and I use XYplorer to view that file, it goes away and "thinks" for a while, then says the file is empty. Storing the files in the ZIP without the full path works ok.
Directory Opus displays both files correctly.

Re: Problem viewing ZIP files
By default XYplorer uses Explorer's Zip-Folder technology to view zip files. So my first question would be: Can you view those ZIPs in File Explorer?

Thanks for the reply
Been a looong time since I used Explorer ... just tried and no it doesn't work either. It works in Opus, and also works in my backup program, which uses a Delphi ZIP component, ZipForge.
I can supply small files, that work and don't work, if required.
You say "default" - is there some way of using another method?

Re: Problem viewing ZIP files
Use e.g. 7-Zip
Set two tweaks (and ofc adapt the path!):

Set two tweaks (and ofc adapt the path!):
Code: Select all
ZipPath7zip=<path to>\7z.exe
ZipExtractUse7zip=1

Re: Problem viewing ZIP files
Yes, ZipFolder cannot handle these ZIPs.
I added a little improvement to the Hover Box* now: in case 7-Zip is installed on the system, the Hover Box will fall back to this.

You say XY says the file is empty. Where is that? I could not reproduce that message. Instead here it shows an empty ZIP-contents list. Or is that what you mean by "says the file is empty"?

Re: Problem viewing ZIP files
Yeah, I guess not ... but it is not immediately obvious (at least to me) that it is not XY, there is nothing in the caption to indicate otherwise.
