The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
Some of my files that have .ico format, their thumbnails are not shown (almost 70% of my ico files)
In the settings of the preview format section, the ico option is active
My version:
24.20.0100

Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
No problem viewing that ico here with thumbnail views, hover box, or any of the previews. It's also shown in details and list views.

Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried using a thumbnail quality other than "high speed" (e.g., smooth)? Of course, you'll have to refresh.

Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
Now I tested all of them (fast, high speed, crisp, smooth) but it didn't work
I would like to mention one thing: in the past, whenever I allowed xyplorer to create thumbnails, it gave an error in any folder that contained more than 100 videos, so I deleted all the thumbnails and then used file explorer to create the thumbnails by Windows (automatically). OK, then I opened xyplorer and saw that this time the thumbnails were created much faster and without errors.
Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
Have you tried generating thumbs in a fresh instance (i.e., fresh; in the address bar)?
Also, try generating the same ico thumbs in a temp folder with nothing else other than the ico files?
I think Don has mentioned something in the past about the high-speed thumbnails taking advantage of explorer thumb caches.

in another folder on the desktop and at the same time inside fresh instance (I also refreshed the thumbnails)

Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
Reset your Windows file association for ico file.
Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
Thank you, I did this, that is in "choose default apps by file type" i changed ICO format from app"Imageglass" to app"Pint", this made the thumbnails that were not created be created
do Setting the association program determines which program will create a thumbnail for that file ?
Sorry, my English is weak
Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
No just ico, other formats are controlled by XYplorer config.
Re: The thumbnail icon is not showing even though I have enabled it
For me the best for Ico files is to display its contents in the file list
and not the icon of the associated tool.
I did this with the following registry file:
and not the icon of the associated tool.
I did this with the following registry file:
Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKCR\AppX43hnxtbyyps62jhe9sqpdzxn1790zetc\DefaultIcon]
@="%1"
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3447)
Portable XYplorer (actual version, including betas)
