Folder color question

Hi. Is there a way I can permanently assign a color to a folder? For this instance I've got work to do on a number of folders and would like to assign a color that indicates the progress of each folder.

For me, I use custom icons. For example, set a rule that any folder that starts with "_" will have folder-b.ico as its icon. You can create many icon with whatever color you like in this website
