Mouse hovering and moving in quick succession

I am not really sure what the issue is, as I haven't been able to consistently reproduce it. However, almost everyday, I do come across something that appears to be a small bug.

For instance, I think that if I hover for an instant over a file (or maybe a file's icon) on the List ("BlueStacksInstaller", in this case):

Then move rapidly to the Tree, this shows up:

This errors disappears as soon as I move the mouse but is a bit confusing because the file does exist, just not in the Tree.
(When I keep the mouse over the exe file nothing appears, but basic properties do show up when hovering over its icon.)

To help tracking it down, could you press the "S" while the Hover Box is showing until (it cycles through 4 modes) the item is shown with the full path. Then we will immediately see what it was looking for but did not find.

I will try, but it was already quite difficult to take the screenshots above, as I have to immediately stop moving the mouse when I notice the red popup.

Also, I tried just now to use the S key as you mentioned, but I was able to do it only for image file previews when hovering. For most other files, pressing S triggers the live filter (or type-ahead find). If I disable these, pressing S seems to do nothing.

After trying for perhaps hundreds of times it seems that:
- S keys does nothing to change what's below the red "Item not found." bar.
- The issue only surfaces if the focus is on the Tree.
- It is reproducible by moving the mouse from the List to the Tree, but it appears to be time critical. I would guess that the mouse must be moved to the Tree just before the hover box appears on the list.

I am leaving here a new screenshot that may be a bit more clear than the previous cropped ones, taken just after moving the mouse to the left.

A check for:

at the end of the timeout (before the hoverbox will actually been shown), check if the mouse is still in the region that qualifies for "hoverboxing"

should squash that bug?

Do the "S" thing with any working hover box. Your setting will stick.

I am getting good at reproducing this bug... ;)
Indeed it does stick, but the hover box with the error does not show the path even then (screenshots attached).

Can you show your settings in Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box?

Ok, no problem... It's a very minor issue, anyway.

I have been waiting for someone to report this, I have had this issue for approx 4 months, it is impossible to get the full path to show, as Nuno stated, for me the false HB shows up not just when I am over the tree but also other apps, like a browser, text editor etc and XY is in the BG, the filename shown is always of a different file that is visible in the list, but that's not selected, I run 120 dpi, I have an inkling that could be relevant since it has taken so long for someone to report it. The easiest way to invoke it though is very similar as what Nuno has described already, trigger a HB and move the mouse over the tree while it is showing, then the false HB appears (sometimes), this happens even though I have HB disabled in the tree. My settings FWIW:

There are more possible factors. I think I need a complete INI file.
