If I right drag 2 files with different extensions I can select "Copy to as ..." and type in a new name for the first file.

I would expect that the method will just change the name of the file without modifying the extensions. Instead it creates new names with added numbers.

What I need is that copy as ... of

MYFILE.AAA
MYFILE.BBB

with the new name

MYOTHERFILE.AAA

will create

MYOTHERFILE.AAA
MYOTHERFILE.BBB

Use MYOTHERFILE.? in the Copy As dialog. I'll make that automatic in the next beta.
