Preview tab and info shown for music files

Currently the program shows the Artist etc info on the preview tab when playing a file such as an mp3. The artist information is actually showing the contributing artist not the album artist. Contributing artist is not the main artist for any particular song so it would be nice to be able to either show both the album artist and the contributing artist or just the album artist since for me more of my songs don't have a contributing artist and therefore that info is blank.

The field you are seeing on the Preview tab is taken from the ID3v2 tags in the mp3 file, not from the shell properties. And it should stay like this.

I could add the Album Artist to the Meta tab. What do you think?

+1 to the Meta tab and -also- the Preview tab.

It would also be nice if "Artist" in those two tabs supported multiple artists. I have an album with Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy. In my music manager, they are separated by a semi-colon. When looking at the ID3v2.3 tags there are two artists. Yet the XY Preview tab only shows one. The Meta tab shows both (separated by a semi-colon.)

Thanks.

PM with link about to be sent.

And as long as you're looking at tags, I'm wondering why the Meta tab says "Contributing artists"? I think of "contributing artists" as those other than the actual artist. Such as a guest/featured performer. The Preview tab show "Artist" and not "Contributing artists." If you're going to make a change to this, I'd also suggest making it "Artist(s)" with or without "Contributing." Just my two cents/shillings/pence.

Thanks.

"Contributing artists" is not my idea (I find it strange myself). This label comes from Windows, and it's regionalized. I won't change it for all languages of the planet. :)

Preview Tab and "Tag Artist" column:
ID3v2.3 "Artist" field: Jeff Beck

Meta Tab:
Shell Properties "Contributing artists" field: Jeff Beck; Buddy Guy
Shell Properties "Album artists" field: Jeff Beck & Buddy Guy

Yes, I can understand that.

The Preview tab only shows one artist. There are two TPE1 (Artist) tags in that file. One for each artist.
MP3Tag shows both artists:

As does MusicBee's Tag Inspector:

Is there any way for XY to show -all- artist (TPE1) tags?

Perhaps give the user the option to show either contributing artist or album artist info in the preview tab if there isn't enough room. Because for me I would rather it show album artist not contributing artist on the preview tab info. Just a thought.
