I have created thumbnail cache in Icaros.

It says that "With the lcaros Cache ENABLED,Icaros will keep a local record of all thumbnails in an internal cache. This allows Icaros to regenerate any cached thumbnail almost instantly in case Windows Explorer loses them."。I call it "Mechanism I"

I guess when I open a folder in windows explorer, it reads the Icaros cache directly and saves it as windows cache, but that's not the case in XYplorer. XYplorer will always recalculate the thumbnails according to its own algorithm, instead of using Icaros cache or windows thumbnails cache.

For example, folder A has Icaros cache, now

1. Open folder A in XYplorer, XYplorer shows that it is calculating the thumbnails one by one, and it may take 100s to complete these. This proves that XYplorer cannot use Icaros cache.

2. I open it in windows explorer, I will create its windows thumbnail cache in about 1s (because it only needs to write and not calculate) and I can view it in real time in explorer. This is mechanism I in action.

3. Clear the XYplorer cache and open folder A in XYplorer, the situation is still the same as 1. This proves that XYplorer cannot apply the Windows thumbnails cache.

I retrieved some related issues and tried to set PreviewEarlyFactory = 0, 1, 2. Still no solution.

I want to know how to use mechanism I and windows thumbnail cache in XYplorer.

Theoretically the image factory (PreviewEarlyFactory=1) should make use of that windows thumbnails cache (= Thumbs.db files). But it might also depend on the thumbnails size?

Thanks! I set PreviewEarlyFactory=1 and thumbnail size = 192*192 , however, 300*200 did not succeed, indeed because of "depend on the thumbnails size".

So is it possible for XYplorer to use Mechanism I? Or do you know how to execute the Thumbnail Maintenance of XYplorer script in windows explorer？ I will be deeply grateful！

I do not know. Microsoft doesn't talk much about Thumbs.db.
