Severe Performance Hits Warning Using Intel Display Drivers

FYI / Service Announcement: If you are using Intel Video Drivers (directly downloaded from Intel) you may have had "Queen Creek" service installed without your knowledge or an opt-out ability. Intel's "Queen Creek" service periodically consumes (often) significant system IO resources. In XY when viewing thumbnails of videos you can have 3-5+ seconds delay clicking on one video to the next video selection, it effectively appears 'random'. This concern effects your entire system. Disabling the service "Intel(R) SUR QC Software Asset Manager" will have zero effect as there are additional registry entries to bypass the end-user disabling the service. "C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\QUEENCREEK\x64\esrv_svc.exe" is still loaded. You can use Microsoft's (Mark Russinovich's) AutoRuns to search for QUEENCREEK.

Windows Registry:

Code: Select all

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Intel(R) SUR QC SAM]
"Intel(R) SUR QC Software Asset Manager"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ESRV_SVC_QUEENCREEK]
"Energy Server Service queencreek"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USER_ESRV_SVC_QUEENCREEK]
"User Energy Server Service queencreek"

C:\Program Files\Intel\SUR\QUEENCREEK\x64\esrv_svc.exe
