Built-In Tweak Editor

Post by GreetingsFromPoland »

Would it be possible to add an in-application editor for the custom tweaks ? Maybe there is but I am unable to find it.

Here is editor in other software as an example. This is nice because they are all listed in one location. Maybe this application can do similar and add the description from the INI file as a tooltip.

Right now I use a custom editor that I made in Microsoft Access. This will read in the INI file and allow me to quickly find new tweaks or edit existing ones. I do this with application closed, make my changes and then relaunch the application.

I don't see a need for an Editor
but I would like a list of all tweaks under Tools
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3235)
Portable XYplorer (actual version, including betas)
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69

Excellent idea ! And especially by adding a "detail" column to explain what the tweak is for

+1 as well

Editor with description-field would be awesome... Especially if that config could be stored separately (so we can all help with writing good explanations and examples)

A tweak is a tweak, come on. There will be no pampering.

But a list of tweaks with its short description under Tools / List of tweaks
should be doable and would avoid the need to read the complete history of changes.

Correct. Some of the tweaks are powerful (and useful) enough to be worth of becoming official features. But for the sake of not putting any more stuff on your plate we'd gladly accept just some aid to edit those and do the descriptions ourself.

As mentioned: An editor with editable description field, writing to a tweak-desc.ini (or whatever) that can easily be shared here in the forums. So we can just share our tweak-discriptions any one can add to so you don't need to handle that.

I suppose some of the mods will probably take a look at the files posted using a diff-tool to compare (and combine) posted files into one kind-of official tweak-desc.ini file.

Actually: I'd gladly accept the task of checking and merging the files and even offer the space to host the merged ini file on my Google Drive.

this is of no surprise to me.

you have quite a few tweaks in your software and it is very time consuming and cumbersome to access them now. unless i am mistaken, every way is outside of the software using a text editor or custom tool.

other software that have options such as this allow you to view and modify within. for example, chrome/vivaldi/brave (flags), firefox (about:config) and even directory opus shown above. trying to search the changelog for something and reading through all the blocks of text is time consuming. it should be a listing inside of software under Tools | Configuration.

I agree there is a need for a way to access all tweaks. An editor or a list under Tools or some other option - I have no preference how it's done but anything would be better than scrolling through the history or ini file.

Wouldn't have a clue how  And sorry, Don, I should have included in my comment that I wasn't necessarily wanting you to do it. I'd be happy if anyone was to make it happen.
