Is it possible to add a setting for choosing the color of the bars in the tree with folders?

Their color is taken from the theme windows, especially in windows xp and it happens that in some themes (design styles) the background color and color of the tree bars are almost the same color, which is very inconvenient.

That's a theme bug then. Got a screenshot?

No, it's not a bug, just because of certain color combinations in the theme settings these lines are badly visible.

Did you try this, it makes them darker usually, so may help:

Tools | Customize Tree | Solid Lines

Also I assume you know already but you can adjust the tree background color, independent from Windows theme colors:

Configuration | Colors and Styles | Colors | Tree | Background

Just checked: the line color in XY is directly derived from the theme. If the lines are not visible it's caused by a faulty theme.

PS: Nevertheless, the next beta will react on changes of the tree back color and ensure that the dots/lines are always visible.

Ah too obvious - I was assuming deep in Config - and I had ticked that box myself already!!

@Don: Not sure if this topics change is the cause, but seems plausible, now I find that my tree BG color can get stuck in the dimmed color until the end of the session, after a long while of fiddling I managed to get repro steps:

1. fresh;
2. #488; #488;
3. result = tree BG color stuck dimmed.

but how I first noticed it happen (and was trying to get repro steps) was during normal browsing actions, like after going to a hidden tree location, but above steps are easiest way to purposely invoke.

You guessed correctly. Fix comes.

@Don: URGENT I upgraded to .0002 and now XY won't start (with my normal config), I am troubleshooting now, my first instinct is that it could have something to do with the tree being locked on startup.

edit: Yep, definitely that is the cause.

Arg. But cannot reproduce. And from the code it cannot really have anything to do with the locked tree fix.

Maybe the constellation needs tree "Show Lines" disabled too, but I am just guessing, no more time to troubleshoot this issue currently, I'll try again later, defs lock tree though.,

FYI It may not have been this change that caused the issue, because I usually have LockTree disabled in my saved config, but because of the dimming issue I accidentally saved config with it enabled between .0001, and .0002, but anyway changing that one setting, 100% makes XY not load now (for me, in my config), I'll try narrow down further later on.
