128GB of RAM on my system in case that's relevant. Folder looks deleted, so no idea if the error is of any significance. Screenshot below just in case anyway:

The error was raised while reading the thumbnails cache. You can tell me what this possibly has to do with deleting a 3TB folder.

Huh, that's interesting. I have no idea how the two could be related, all I can do is tell you what I was doing when the error showed up:
-initiate delete
-go browse chrome while the delete finishes
-come back to see the error
The folder contained around 1.2 million images (in many subfolders), so that's the only link to thumbnails I can see.

You selected one folder in the file list and pressed DEL or SHIFT+DEL?
Was it a permanent delete, or to recycle bin?
The file list was in a view with thumbnails (that includes the Tiles views)? (And was what the view on the inactive pane?)

After calculating the size the dialog informed it it was too big for the recycling bin and if I wanted to permanently delete the folder, clicked yes on that.

The view on both panes was thumbnails (192x128)

How many files with thumbnails were visible before and after the deletion?

I was in the top level so it was only the one folder to be deleted that was in the active view (which didn't even have a thumbnail because images only started appearing 3 levels down). The inactive pane had around 8 folders visible, one or two folders had a thumbnail.
Sorry about this weird behavior, doubt people go around deleting so much data at once very often

So when the error was shown the list in the active pane was completely empty (deletion was completed)?

Yes, the deletion went through to completion (view was empty in XYplorer, behind the error window, and the location was also empty in windows explorer). I took a screenshot of the error, and tried closing XYplorer but got a message that "your settings might not be saved". Didn't really pay attention to that one, and closed it anyway. Opened it back up, closed once just in case (no issues), and it all works ok.
I had the "out of memory" error once before, also when deleting a very big folder with lots of pictures inside, but I didn't take any screenshots/notes of that incident.
I guess I could try this again since I still have all that data (I was just moving it to a different drive, I prefer to copy and delete manually later with this much data), and test if this error happens consistently?

Not necessary. I have a theory what happened and it should be fixed in the next beta.
