Out of Memory when deleting images on phone

I have a Google Pixel 4a phone and can view picture files the internal storage / DCIM / Camera folder. MDBU works on most of them. I'm trying to delete batches of them. If I select more than about 500 at a time, XY throws an "out of memory" error during pre-processing which btw is very slow at maybe two files per sec. At 200 files it does OK. The phone has 128GB of which maybe 1/4 is used. My PC has 64GB of RAM.
I realize that phones are a tricky subject and am reporting this more as information than as a bug.
[Edit: although, Windows Explorer deletes them just fine, with no evident pre-processing. So 1,000 done in about 1 minute.]

The error comes during selection or during deletion?

The error dialog pops after pressing "Delete" and (per the status line) when pre-processing for that is done. But no files actually get deleted. In the attached screen-shot I was trying to delete 765 out of 1486 images. The pre-processing alone takes several minutes for this many files. Then the error appears. As noted my PC has 64GB RAM and the phone has 128GB of which about 3/4 is free.
If I select only a hundred or so images to delete it all works, but again with slow pre-processing and slow deletions - maybe 2 files / sec. In contrast, Windows Explorer just starts deleting and is done with 700 in a minute or less.

As it happens the recent beta v23.00.0002 - 2022-03-28 15:13 improved this area and might fix the issue. Please try this or any later version:

Well, fresh back from a trip it was one of the very few days when I wasn't running the latest beta! Will try again when opportune; thanks.
