That's a Explorer setting. Click on "My Computer", go for menu "Extras", choose "Folder options" (or something the like, i'm translating roughly from my german surface) and on 1st properties tab "General" you'll find your choice.

Yes, it's the 3rd option within the "General" tab of "Folder Options" within the "Tools" menu on Explorer...

that's the problem - the setting is already set to open in the same window.... so i guess you probably need another registry line or just change the existing one ...

P.S. thanks for help guyz but i am not such a noob ... :)

But the registry changes listed in wiki for making XY default have no connection to any Win Expl settings! It simply says open XY instead of the default so how/when WE opens windows is not within the scope of these changes...kind of similar to changing the default 'Open With' for JPG to IrFanView and then resetting it back...

Well that is what i am telling you see before setting XY to be the default file manager it is set that explorer is default FOLDER opener... then it changes to XY..... so if you would want to open a link for my computer, it still opens explorer ... because in the link it doesnt specify that it is a FOLDER.... so my problem was, when i run the command to remove those entries, it opens each folder in a new window.... .. i guess this is confusing ... but yeah i already restored my registry so al is fine :)

THanks
